American Prisoners in Foreign Countries
We must NEVER pay for the return of any American prisoners! If we have to take them by force I support that when all other methods have failed. I support President Trump on his handling of these matters.
There are more than a dozen other Americans held in North Korea, Turkey, Afghanistan, Syria, Mali, and Yemen and Venezuela. There are 20 known American hostages who remain in captivity or imprisoned by hostile regimes like these. Our government will not publicly disclose the number of American citizens being held hostage and the data remains classified over security concerns. The State Department says it has successfully aided the release of nearly 200 hostages since 2015. President Trump has had a lot to do with more hostages being released.
Officials in the State Department, the FBI and American intelligence agencies have put in place a more coordinated hostage response team – called the “hostage recovery fusion cell.” Current and former diplomats and administration officials believe the United States is getting better at freeing its citizens.
